Job title:     Project Accountant

Location:     Cyprus – remote working

Schedule:    Full time, generally 8.30-5 Monday to Friday

 

Role overview

This is a new role that is being introduced due to continuing growth. The Project Accountant will strengthen the financial management across donor/government-funded projects. This person will support monthly management accounting, project-level reporting, analysis, budgeting, forecasting, compliance, and financial modelling.

Role details

  1. Project Accounting & Donor Reporting
  • Maintain project budgets, forecasts, and trackers
  • Prepare monthly financial performance reports
  • Monitor contractual deliverables and revenue recognition
  • Prepare donor/government financial reports
  • Ensure financial compliance with funding requirements

 

  1. Management Accounting
  • Support monthly close processes
  • Prepare journals, accruals, and reconciliations
  • Assist multi-entity accounting where applicable
  • Analyse multi-currency transactions

 

  1. Financial Analysis & Business Partnering
  • Support cost modelling, pricing, and scenario analysis
  • Prepare dashboards and management reports
  • Present financial insight to non-finance colleagues
  1. Audit & Compliance Support
  • Assist with external and donor audits
  • Prepare audit schedules and documentation
  • Strengthen financial controls and audit readiness
  1. Process Improvement
  • Improve budgeting tools, templates, and forecasting sheets
  • Analysing any variances and how to improve processes to minimise these in the future
  • Identify and implement process efficiencies, utilising automation and AI where appropriate

 

Key Requirements of the role

Essential (these will be used to decide whether to shortlist)

Experience

  • A minimum of 2 years post qualification management and project accounting experience
  • Donor/government funded project experience

Skills

  • Fluent English communication (spoken and written)
  • Excellent excel and modelling skills
  • Capable independent and remote worker
  • Proactive and solution orientated
  • Excellent communicator
  • Excellent numerical, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Highly reliable with strong integrity
  • Able to work across cultures and time zones

Education

  • A relevant bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
  • Qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CPA, CIMA or equivalent)

Desirable

Experience

  • Working with NGO or public contracts
  • Multi-entry or multi-currency accounting
  • Working with Belgian or Uk reporting environments
  • Liaising with and coordinating information for auditors
