Reception and Immediate Arrival Support

Creating a safe landing and smooth re-entry.
IRARA’s arrival support services ensure that returnees are met with dignity, clarity, and care the moment they step off the plane. With embedded local teams and trusted partners at arrival points, we deliver immediate and coordinated assistance to ease the transition back home and reduce vulnerabilities.

Our reception and immediate arrival services include:

  • Airport reception: Returnees are greeted by clearly identified IRARA representatives who are trained in cultural sensitivity, local protocols, and trauma- informed support. Staff members are briefed in advance on individual cases and provide a welcoming presence in the returnee’s own language.
  • Onward travel support: We coordinate the full travel chain from the airport to the returnee’s final destination. This includes booking domestic bus, train, or internal flights, supporting luggage transfers, assisting with transit documentation, and troubleshooting local transport challenges. Our staff remain on call until the individual reaches their home or onward accommodation.
  • Emergency assistance: For those with urgent needs, IRARA provides short-term emergency support such as cash grants or digital vouchers for food and essential goods, mobile phone credit, and overnight accommodation. Vulnerable individuals such as those with young children, disabilities, or medical needs are prioritised for enhanced support and urgent referrals to health and social services.
  • Orientation briefings: Once settled, returnees are invited to participate in orientation sessions where they learn about local reintegration programmes, how to access services like healthcare, education, or employment, and their rights and responsibilities under national law. These briefings are customised to reflect regional contexts and link individuals with in-country coaches or peer networks for ongoing guidance.

Our approach to arrival support is practical, people first, and grounded in cultural fluency. We help individuals feel safe, respected, and informed from the moment they return, setting the stage for successful reintegration and long-term stability.
